Dense fog advisory issued in Northern Illinois

The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory for the Chicago area until 10 a.m., officials said in a news release.

Officials said the widespread dense fog will reduce visibility to less than a quarter-mile. People are asked to slow down when driving and to leave plenty of distance for stopping.

The fog affects most of northern Illinois, with the worst areas located west of I-55.
