Wheeling police announce Halloween Crackdown results

Wheeling police say officers made four impaired driving arrests and issued 26 seat belt citations during the department's recent Halloween Crackdown.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in the crackdown aimed at getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up during the Halloween weekend. Extra emphasis was given to the late-night hours, when statistics show the most people drink and drive and the fewest buckle up.

The campaign was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation, and is part of the statewide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns.
