North Avenue railroad crossing closed in Antioch

Drivers who travel on North Avenue in Antioch are being asked to use an alternative route this week, as the railroad crossing near Main Street is closed for emergency repair.

An alert sent out by the Lake County Division of Transportation Monday afternoon stated that the railroad crossing failed and was closed by the Canadian National Railroad.

North Avenue between Main Street and Deep Lake Road is only accessible to local traffic while the crossing is being replaced. As a detour, motorists should take Route 83 south to Route 173, then Route 173 east to Deep Lake Road.

The crossing is expected to reopen this weekend.
