Miami to pay homage to military with special uniforms
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) - Miami will pay homage to the nation's military and veterans this weekend.
The Hurricanes will wear "Military Appreciation Day" uniforms Saturday against Virginia, with black jerseys, pants and helmets, khaki socks and camouflage gloves.
Miami is also donating 1,000 tickets to the game to veterans and active military members.
The game-used jerseys and helmets will be auctioned postgame, with all proceeds to benefit the Miami VA Healthcare System and Fisher House - the VA's facility that provides free housing for families of those receiving care at the nearby Bruce W. Carter Medical Center.
