Takeaways from Friday night football

1. Rivalry week:

With Waubonsie Valley and Neuqua Valley both winning, they'll meet in Naperville in a surprising second-round Class 8A game. Neuqua won the only other playoff matchup in 2012.

2. Top seeding:

Glenbard South's 42-0 victory over Westinghouse in Class 5A action on Saturday was the lone playoff game in the state this weekend where a No. 1 seed lost.

3. DuPage dandy:

Fourteen DuPage County teams qualified for the playoffs, and nine advanced to the second round. The area still has teams alive in Class 3A, 5A, 6A, 7A and 8A.
