Construction to temporarily close River Road in Des Plaines

River Road will be temporarily closed from Oakton Street to Sherwin Avenue in Des Plaines starting Wednesday as part of an ongoing road reconstruction project.

Crews will be pouring new concrete pavement for the road. The road closure is expected to last from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. over the course of two to three days, Des Plaines officials said.

A detour route will be used to direct traffic via Touhy Avenue to Mannheim Road to Oakton Street. Local traffic will be allowed and access to businesses will be maintained; however, it may be limited, officials said.
