FBI seeks help in Maywood officer's 2006 unsolved murder

CHICAGO (AP) - The FBI in Chicago is renewing its search for information about the 2006 unsolved murder of a suburban police officer.

Maywood Police Officer Thomas Wood was shot while sitting in his police vehicle in October 2006. A police canine was in the back seat of the sports utility vehicle when the 37-year-old was shot several times in the chest. The dog wasn't injured.

In a statement Wednesday, FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Michael Anderson and Maywood Police Chief Vladimir Talley say they're seeking additional help from the public.

They say officers have followed many leads and conducted numerous interviews but the person responsible for the killing remains at large.

They're asking anyone with information to call the Chicago office of the FBI or Maywood police.

Wood had a wife and five children.
