DNA needed to identify charred remains found near Pecatonica

PECATONICA, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in northern Illinois say they'll use DNA testing to identify a charred body found outside a mobile home near Pecatonica.

Stephenson County Sheriff's Lt. Richard Roodhouse says an autopsy wasn't able to identify the body. Police believe it is a white or Hispanic woman between the ages of 15 and 20. The (Freeport) Journal-Standard reports (http://bit.ly/1PWRXi1 ) that police say they're treating the death as a homicide investigation.

The body was found Tuesday. Authorities believe it was behind a mobile home for up to 24 hours before the property own found it.

Authorities believe the body was burned after the victim died. The autopsy didn't find a cause of death.
