A Carpentersville man with a long criminal history faces six to 60 years in prison after his conviction this week for firing a gun in a home in March and threatening a woman.

Chad W. Conway, formerly of Roscoe, was convicted of felony armed habitual criminal Wednesday after a jury trial in Kane County.

Prosecutors said at trial Conway went to a cousin's home on the 1700 block of Papoose Road in Carpentersville at about 3:30 a.m. March 21 and placed a Ruger Blackhawk .357 magnum revolver and a wad of money on the table.

Conway grabbed the gun and fired a shot through a kitchen wall, authorities said. The woman took another $20 for damage to the wall and Conway fired another shot before grabbing her by the throat.

He put the gun to her forehead and called the children to "come watch her die," prosecutors said.

He eventually left the home and the woman called police.

Conway, who will remain in Kane County jail since his bond was revoked, returns to court Nov. 17 for sentencing.
