April home fire death of NW Indiana woman ruled homicide
OGDEN DUNES, Ind. (AP) - The house fire death of a 94-year-old northwestern Indiana woman earlier this year has been ruled a homicide.
The Porter County Coroner's Office made the ruling Wednesday in the April 16 death of Wanda Maxine Wunder of Ogden Dunes.
It said autopsy results revealed Wunder died from smoke and soot inhalation, but it did not elaborate on the homicide ruling. Wunder was found in an upstairs bedroom.
Ogden Dunes Police Chief James Reeder tells The (Munster) Times (http://bit.ly/1LYO9I2 ) his department is investigating the case. He had no comment when asked about the status of the investigation.
Police said at the time that Wunder's son, 66-year-old Fred Fegley, was able to escape from the home and alert a neighbor who called 911.
Ogden Dunes is about 10 miles east of Gary.
