St. Catherine of Siena parish to honor veterans in November

A special series of events to honor local veterans, past and present, in appreciation for their service and sacrifice will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 845 W. Main St. in West Dundee.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, a dynamic "Veterans Program" will be held with music, testimonies, bagpipes, the U.S. Army Honor Guard and a video presentation.

"We are honoring with pride and respect those who have chosen to serve and have given so much for our personal and national freedoms," said Joe Sakowski, leader of the St. Catherine of Siena Men's Music Ministry. Families and veterans in the community are invited to attend. For information, call Joe Sakowski at (815) 621-1007.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, all veterans are invited to attend a celebration in their honor in the church. After the program, veterans and their families are invited to join the eighth-grade class of St. Catherine of Siena School at a reception in their honor in the McKinstra Room. Reservations are necessary for the Nov. 11 reception. Call Diane Loy at (847) 426-4808 and provide your branch of service for the school's wall of honor.

For additional information about any of the special veterans events, call the St. Catherine of Siena Church parish office at (847) 426-2217.
