Police capture man accused of shooting at Illinois officer
CAMBRIA, Ill. (AP) - Illinois State Police say they've arrested a suspect who is accused of shooting at a police officer in southern Illinois.
WSIU radio reports the man was arrested at about 8 a.m. Tuesday after a nine-hour manhunt.
Illinois State Police say a Cambria (KAYM'-bree-uh) officer approached the man at 10:45 p.m. Monday when he was walking in the village just northeast of Carbondale. Authorities say the man ran into the woods and shot at the officer after the two spoke for a moment.
Police say the officer wasn't hurt and fired one round back toward the man.
