Assisted living building approved in Des Plaines
Plans for a five-story, 68-unit assisted living and memory care building south of downtown Des Plaines got the green light this week from the city council.
The proposed 65,308-square-foot building at 959-997 Lee St. first received approval from the council in 2012, but property owner Edward Soske sought new approvals after financing for the project dried up and city permits expired. Soske received a new conditional use permit and variation for a 55-foot building height, and 60-foot height to the top of a parapet.
Existing one-story buildings on site are set to be demolished. Construction is expected to begin in April and finish within 12 months.
