Longtime Elk Grove Township Resident Appointed to Fill Vacant Trustee Seat

Elk Grove Township is pleased to announce that after a nearly two month search, longtime Township resident Bob Ingraffia has been chosen to fill the Township board's vacant trustee seat.

The position was previously held by current Township Clerk, George Busse, who accepted an appointment to fill the then vacated clerk position in late August, 2015.

Eleven candidates showed interest in the trustee seat, and six were interviewed by the Township Board.

Elk Grove Township Supervisor Mike Sweeney said Ingraffia's background in public finance and operations, his ability to build relationships with other government bodies and overall knowledge of the Township made him an excellent candidate.

"Mr. Ingraffia has more than 45 years of experience in public service, including nearly a decade as a school teacher, and in leadership positions at the regional superintendent's office for Chicago and suburban Cook County," Sweeney said. "That level of leadership will serve Elk Grove Township extremely well."

Ingraffia will be sworn in at the October 26, 2015 Elk Grove Township board meeting and his term will end in May of 2017.

Ingraffia retired in the summer of 2013 from his career in education, and has been an Elk Grove Township for 29 years. He currently resides in Mount Prospect with his wife of 45 years, and the couple has two grown children, and five grandchildren.

"What appealed to me most about becoming a Township trustee was the opportunity to get involved at a local level and give back to the community that I raised my family in," Ingraffia said.

The Trustee seat became available on August 31, 2015 when then serving Elk Grove Township Trustee Busse was appointed to fill the vacant Township Clerk position. The previous clerk, Greg O'Brien resigned on August 10, 2015 citing a change in his home residence to outside of Township boundaries.
