Arming teachers is not the answer

Mr. Dan Filipek, in a recent Fence Post, spoke of the merit of arming teachers to possibly prevent future events similar to the murders that happened on a Oregon campus a couple of weeks ago.

As the parent of a school-age kid, the very notion of one of her teachers having access to a "heater" on campus to attempt to stop a similar incident or the thought of using gun language on any campus to try to persuade a mentally ill person from doing something similar again just sickens me.

No, I do not have the full set of answers to this national plague, but I know that arming teachers or professors is not one of them.
