No injuries reported in Hawthorn Woods marsh fire

The Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department on Sunday was called to a report of cattails on fire in a large marsh area behind the 0-100 block of Westwind Court in Hawthorn Woods, officials said Monday in a news release. The marsh area was surrounded by many large homes. Due to the terrain, size and extent of the fire, additional equipment and personnel were called in to help protect the homes, officials said. There were no reported injuries or fatalities, and none of the houses in the area suffered any damage. The cause of the fire is undetermined, officials said. The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the entire area, meaning a combination of strong winds, low humidity and warm temperatures will create fire growth potential, fire officials said.
