Thank you for the surprise gift

On the late afternoon of Monday, Oct. 5, my husband and I went to the Arlington Heights Olive Garden to celebrate our 58th wedding anniversary. My husband told the waitress we were celebrating our anniversary and jokingly told her that no one thought it would last.

We had just finished our meal when a young lady walked up to our booth and said she had heard us talking with the waitress and we reminded her of her parents who had passed away within three days of each other. She said she wanted to give us something and then placed an Olive Garden gift card on the table. When we realized what she was doing, we tried to graciously refuse but she turned and quickly left.

We were so startled and she left so quickly that we had not collected our wits in time to properly thank her. We feel that she did it as a way to honor her parents and wish we had a chance to talk with her and properly thank her. We know her parents must have been wonderful people to have raised such a giving and generous daughter.

Thank you so much for your gift and most of all, for giving us a beautiful memory on our anniversary. We have been telling all our friends about you and what you did. We plan to pass on your kindness.

Thank you again so very, very much and we will remember you and your parents in our prayers.
