Man's Burlington murder trial rescheduled for March
BURLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - A trial has been rescheduled for a 44-year-old man accused of killing a Burlington resident.
The Hawk Eye reports (http://bit.ly/1RMetZS ) that Maurice Green was scheduled to go on trial Dec. 1 on a murder charge in the shooting of 28-year-old Matthew Banks, who was found inside his home on April 15. Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a dispute at a dice game earlier at Green's home. Green was captured in Galesburg, Illinois.
Green's public defender asked to withdraw from the case because of personal issues. A judge granted the request, appointed new lawyers for Green and rescheduled the trial to begin March 22.
