North Aurora police to conduct roadside safety check today

The North Aurora Police Department will be conducting a roadside safety check within the village of North Aurora. It will take place on Friday, Oct. 16 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The North Aurora Police Department has a zero tolerance for impaired driving in the village of North Aurora. Officers working this detail will be watchful for drivers who are operating vehicles in an unsafe manner, driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license, transporting open alcoholic beverages, or driving under the influence (DUI).

Alcohol and drug impairment is a significant factor in nearly 40 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois.

Roadside safety check are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road.

This project is funded through an ELAP grant by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety Grant.
