Halloween in the Hollow returns Oct. 24 to Sleepy Hollow

The annual Halloween in the Hollow will be 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Sabatino Park, off Thorobred Lane.

Children have an opportunity to show off their costumes, parading by age group to receive candy with prizes awarded for the best costumes.

Other activities include pumpkin decorating, hay rides, a chili contest and of course, the bonfire.

The Service Club offers refreshments while you wait for the appearance of the Headless Horseman, which includes hot dogs, brats, hot cocoa & cider, water, apple and pumpkin pie and all the chili from the contest.

All are welcome to enter the chili contest. There is a three-quart minimum to enter. Find the chili cook-off contest entry form for more information at www.sleepyhollowil.org. Cutoff for entry forms are 2 p.m. that day.

The chili contests starts at 3 p.m., with food sales starting at 3:30 p.m. The costume parade starts at 4:15 p.m. and pumpkin decorating and hayrides begin at 4:30 p.m.

At twilight, at 5:30 p.m., the immense bonfire is set ablaze, followed by the ride of the Headless Horseman at 6:15 p.m.

Parking is on the east side of Sabatino Park only. No parking on Winmoor Drive or Thorobred Lane. Visit www.sleepyhollowil.org.
