Waukegan security guard shoots at vehicle

An armed security guard shot at a vehicle that was driving recklessly about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in an apartment complex on the 2400 block of Dugdale Road, Waukegan police authorities said Thursday. The police department's patrol division responded to the complex for reports of a reckless driver and a shot fired. At the complex, officers spoke to an armed security guard employed by a private security company who said a vehicle had entered the property and was driving recklessly. Security officers attempted to stop the maroon Chevy Impala carrying two or three men, authorities said, but the driver refused. One security officer felt his safety was threatened and fired a shot at the vehicle, authorities said. The security guard has cooperated with police, and no charges were filed against him, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
