Boys soccer: Libertyville snaps Vernon Hills' win streak

Boys soccer

Libertyville 3, Vernon Hills 0: The host Wildcats snapped the Cougars' seven-game winning streak.

Libertyville led 1-0 at halftime. Vernon Hills (13-6) nearly found the equalizer with a shot from Aaron Castellanos, but the ball hit the crossbar.

"I thought our boys played with a lot of heart, discipline and integrity tonight," Cougars coach Mike McCaulou said. "We knew going into the game that everyone was going to get minutes tonight to prepare for the postseason. Libertyville got 2 late goals, but I thought the game was not indicitive of the scoreline. We had one of the best regular seasons in program history, and we are just getting ready for the postseason now. It was great to see everyone on the team play at least a half tonight. We are going to need everyone to be ready to play if we want to make a deep postseason run."
