COD Community Concert Band opens season
The College of DuPage Community Concert Band performs its first concert of the 2015-2016 season at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, in the Belushi Performance Hall at the McAninch Arts Center on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
Founded in 1969, the COD Community Concert Band started as a daytime concert band for students and a nighttime band for the community. The band consolidated into one community group in 1982 and performs under the direction of Terry Redford.
The Oct. 19 program features "Harry's Wondrous World" by John Williams from the movie "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone;" "El Capitan and Black Horse Troop" by John Philip Sousa; "Alleluia! Laudamus Te" by Alfred Reed; "Blithe Bells" by Alfred Reed; "Redline Tango" by John Mackey; and "Sailing with the Tall Ships" by Philip Sparke.
