Chelsea manager Mourinho fined, given suspended stadium ban

LONDON (AP) - Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been fined 50,000 pounds ($77,000) and given a suspended one-game stadium ban for accusing referees of being biased against his team.

Speaking after a 3-1 loss to Southampton on Oct. 3, Mourinho said referees "are afraid to give decisions for Chelsea."

England's Football Association says Wednesday that Mourinho's remarks "constituted improper conduct" as they implied bias and brought the game into disrepute.

The suspended stadium ban will come into effect if Mourinho commits a further breach of rules before Oct. 13 next year.
