HONG KONG (AP) - Jelena Jankovic and Samantha Stosur advanced to the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Open on Wednesday, both winning in straight sets.

"It was more difficult than it looked," said Stosur, the 2011 U.S. Open champion from Australia. "She has improved quite a lot from the last time I met her but I thought I played very well."

Stosur will next face Heather Watson, who beat Taiwanese qualifier Lee Ya-hsuan 6-0, 6-7 (5), 6-4.

Sixth-seeded Daria Gavrilova also advanced, beating Lara Arrubarrena of Spain 7-6 (4), 6-1.
