Harmonicats to perform in concert Oct. 25
The legendary Harmonicats will be in concert in the Northwest suburbs later this month, sponsored by the Northwest Suburban Community Concert Association in partnership with Northwest Suburban High School District 214 Community Education.
The concert will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Forest View Educational Center Theater, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights.
The original Harmonicats were harmonica virtuosos who, in 1947, had a monster national hit with "Peg O' My Heart." They followed that with a harmonica version of "Cherry Pink" and "Apple Blossom White."
Modern-day harmonica wizard and longtime Harmonicat Mo Vint has assembled the new era Harmonicats, who play all the old songs and will amaze you with their artistry. This is not just a novelty act, but an opportunity to hear a once-popular instrument played by three of the world's finest harmonist players.
Tickets are available at the door, at www.nscommunityconcerts.org, or through Northwest Suburban High School District 214, (847) 718-7702. Tickets are $20 for adults, free for children in kindergarten through 12th grade with a paying adult.
The 2015-2016 Northwest Suburban Community Concert Association season will also feature:
• Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016, Chicago Samba, Brazilian carnival music.
• Sunday, April 17, 2016, Avalon String Quartet, award-winning chamber musicians.
• Sunday, May 15, 2016, Reginald Robinson, with the history of ragtime.
