Enjoy An Almost Winter Day Nov. 21
The South Elgin Community will be enjoying a fun afternoon Saturday, Nov. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. at County Park to celebrate an An Almost Winter Day!
Santa arrives at 3 p.m. to sing carols and take pictures with the children before heading over to the Footprints in Time Plaza on Route 31 for the annual holiday tree lighting at 5 p.m.
Concessions will sold by the South Elgin Police, South Elgin & Countryside Fire, and the FUNdation, with the proceeds benefiting local not-for-profit organizations.
A nostalgic trip to the Jon Duerr Forest Preserve and back, including a reading of "The Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg will be provided by the Fox River Trolley Museum.
The South Elgin Parks and Recreation Department is offering free activities for all ages, including horse-drawn sleigh rides, petting zoo, children's activity area, cookie decorating while supplies last, s'more making, and a soup station, as well as a bonfire to keep warm.
They also are offering more activities for a small fee, including pony rides, a coffee bar, and a chance to write a "Letter to Santa."
