Fifth annual Takeda Cares Day aids 3 local charities

Takeda hosted its fifth annual Takeda Cares Day on Friday, October 2. Since the first Takeda Cares Day in 2011, Takeda has raised over $500,000 to benefit local nonprofit organizations. Takeda employees are passionate about making a difference:

"I love Takeda Cares Day because across the organization we all come together to do good for our community," said Jennifer Banovic, medical communications liaison at Takeda. "I am proud to participate in an event that raises money for local nonprofit organizations that are helping individuals, children, and families."

Takeda employees chose to donate proceeds from this fifth anniversary Takeda Cares Day to:

• Providing Advocacy, Dignity and Shelter (PADS) Lake County, which will use the money to shelter those who are experiencing homelessness and help people get out of homelessness and back into housing.

• Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lake County, which will use the money to provide the benefits of a CASA volunteer to more than 25 of the most vulnerable children in the community.

• Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, which will use the money to support 200 children in Lake County programs focused on health, nutrition and physical fitness.

Takeda Cares Day has a strong legacy and continues to grow. In recent months, 50 Takeda locations in the U.S. have conducted volunteer activities to benefit nonprofit organizations in their local areas, determined to make a difference in their communities. The company is also providing funding to eight local schools that have participated in Takeda and the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry educational programs.

This year, a record number of more than 760 employees participated in the 5K walk/run around Takeda's Deerfield campus, volunteered or participated in additional activities held on-site during the event.
