Goshen man faces charges for Elkhart theater threat

ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - A prosecutor says a northern Indiana man accused of leavening a threatening message on a theater's voice mail is facing charges of intimidation and public intoxication.

Elkhart County Prosecutor Curtis Hill said Monday that 56-year-old Thomas Townsend of Goshen is being held in the Elkhart County Jail.

Authorities stepped up patrols around the Lerner Theatre in Elkhart message after a message implied a "mass murder" would happen at a Sept. 12 concert.

Hill says police officers working an Aug. 29 concert at the theater evicted Townsend from a concert after a patron reported that a man was being disruptive and threatening physical aggression.

Online court records did not show an attorney for Townsend who might comment on his behalf.
