Women's art exhibition celebrates feminism

An exhibition that illustrates and celebrates feminism's past, present and future opened Thursday, Oct. 1, at Oakton Community College's Koehnline Museum of Art, 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. "Feminism Across the Generations" runs through Friday, Oct. 23.

This year's collaboration between Women's and Gender Studies and the Koehnline Museum of Art will display more than 70 works by female artists from around the globe that explore how feminists can reach across divisions of time and place.

"Our 'Generations' theme has inspired pieces that are both thought-provoking and moving," says Kathleen Carot, WGS coordinator. "This is a show that will have wide appeal to both first-time attendees and seasoned art lovers."

The Koehnline Museum of Art is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

The exhibition is funded, in part, by a generous grant from the Oakton Educational Foundation.
