University of Indianapolis announces $50M fundraising effort
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The University of Indianapolis has announced a $50 million fundraising campaign along with a new poverty research institute.
The Indianapolis Star reports (http://indy.st/1OfFvuf ) that the fundraising effort - called "UIndy Starts with You" - will focus on issues like student opportunities and faculty and academic excellence. The private school is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and has about 5,400 undergraduate and graduate students.
The school said Friday that the private phase of the fundraising campaign has raised $34 million. The public phase is centered on raising the rest of the money by June 2021.
Separately, the school said that the Gene and Mary Ann Zink Poverty Institute will focus on interdisciplinary poverty research.
