Leyden gets past Downers South

Leyden squared its overall record at 3-3 and stayed in the thick of the West Suburban Gold race by topping visiting Downers Grove South 28-24 on Friday.

The Eagles (2-1 in the Gold) dropped a 2-point decision to Addison Trail last week. The Blazers fell short against Hinsdale South in another key Gold game Friday.

Leyden will visit the Hornets (4-2, 3-1) in Week 7.
