Vero Voce presents Ken Ludwig's farce, 'Shakespeare In Hollywood'

Vero Voce Theater, 951 State Ave. in St. Charles, will present Ken Ludwig's "Shakespeare In Hollywood."

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 6 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 2-18.

"Shakespeare In Hollywood," winner of the 2004 Helen Hayes Award for Best New Play, is appropriate for audiences preteen through adult. It's 1934, and Shakespeare's most famous fairies, Oberon and Puck, have magically materialized on the Warner Bros. Hollywood set of Max Reinhardt's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Instantly smitten by the glitz and glamour of show biz, the two are ushered onto the silver screen to play (who else?) themselves.

With a little help from a feisty flower, blonde bombshells, movie moguls, and arrogant "asses" are tossed into loopy love triangles, with raucous results. The mischievous magic of moviedom sparkles in this hilarious comic romp.

"Shakespeare In Hollywood" is directed by Dennis Brown, Vero Voce co-owner, with assistant director Miranda Keigher, produced by Dawn Harkins, Vero Voce co-owner, and David Rodriguez, Vero Voce artistic director.

The cast includes Dennis Brown and Amanda Sallmann, both of St. Charles; Tony Pellegrino of Streamwood; David Rodriguez and Jen Torchia, both of Lombard; Devon Casserly of Crystal Lake; Paul Cepynsky and Tammy White, both of Lisle; Cameron Hotham of Batavia; Josh Radde of Algonquin; Jennifer Samson of Huntley; and Bruce Worthel of North Aurora.

General admission tickets are $20, $18 for seniors and students or $12 for children, age 12 and younger. Tickets can be purchased online at www.verovoce.com or by calling (630) 584-0139. All major credit cards are accepted.
