Northern Illinois University student dies in fall

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) - An autopsy is scheduled in the death of a Northern Illinois University student officials say fell to his death late Saturday from the 11th floor of a campus dormitory.

NIU spokesman Joe King said Monday the student, identified by the DeKalb County Coroner as 19-year-old Oluwarotimi Okedina, fell from the Stevenson Towers residence hall. King says the student from Des Plaines lived at a different dorm on campus.

King said campus police are investigating the incident. The coroner's office says an autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.

NIU vice president of student affairs Eric Weldy told students in a memo that a window screen had been removed from the 11th-floor room before the tragedy. There were no details on who removed it, or if investigators know who removed it, and why.
