Palatine car wash to be leveled, replaced

A plan to tear down the 27-year-old self-service car wash at 1220 N. Rand Road replace it with a modern, automatic tunnel-style car wash was approved by the Palatine village council this week.

According to documents filed with the village, the new car wash would move cars through a series of foam brushes and other cleaning apparatus, and a heated drying system, a departure from the current self-service bays.

To limit the noise from the machinery, the car wash doors would remain closed during the automatic wash. Two to three employees would work the business each day.
