Arlington Heights man dies in bike crash on Wisconsin trail

An Illinois man has died in a bicycling accident in west-central Wisconsin.

The Clark County sheriff's office was called Wednesday afternoon to the crash on the Levis Mound bike trail in Neillsville.

Authorities say the bicyclist was unconscious and not breathing. He was flown to an Eau Claire hospital where he died.

The sheriff's office identifies the victim as 67-year-old Christopher Hanson of Arlington Heights.

Investigators say Hanson was riding his bicycle when he hit something on the trail, flew off his bike and landed on the ground, apparently hitting his head on a log or on the ground. Authorities say he was wearing a helmet.

According to the sheriff's office, Hanson had been coming to the bike trails every year to ride.
