Singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles, known for her intimate voice and songs such as chart-topper "Brave," tells the stories behind some of her most popular songs this week during a visit to Naperville.
Bareilles, who has earned five Grammy nominations and a vast following of fans, will share and discuss her autobiography, "Sounds Like Me," at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville.
She will be in conversation with Naperville native Randy Stine of Straight No Chaser, a well-known a cappella group.
Tickets are required and available with the purchase of the book at Anderson's Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville. For information, call (630) 355-2665.
"Sounds Like Me," which was released Tuesday, Oct. 6, reveals Bareilles with refreshing candor. Bareilles shares the joys and struggles that come with creating great work while staying true to yourself.
Imbued with humor and marked by Bareilles' confessional writing style, the collection tells the stories behind some of her most popular songs.
Most recently known for her hit "Brave," Bareilles first broke through in 2007 with her multiplatinum single "Love Song." She has released five albums that have sold 2.5 million copies and spawned several hits. More than a view inside the experience of a musician, the book is a moving tribute to the universal search for growth, healing and self-acceptance.
A native of Eureka, California, Bareilles now lives in New York City.
