Experience pioneer life at Tavern Day

Make ropes, saw logs, shell corn and experience how the pioneers lived at Glen Ellyn Historical Society's Tavern Day.

The celebration is 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at Stacy's History Corner, 800 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn. During the afternoon folks can take part in rope making, log sawing, kraut making, corn shelling and scarecrow creating.

They can enjoy musical entertainment, interact in an 1840s school room, dip candles, play pioneer games, eat goodies from the bake sale, visit with the animals from Trails End Farm, watch a blacksmith at work and visit with a beekeeper.

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for Glen Ellyn Historical Society members, $4 for children ages 3 to 17, $3 for children of GEHS members, and free for younger children.

For ticket information, call (630) 469-1867 or visit glenellynhistory.org.
