Waukegan man killed in Beach Park crash

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fatal crash that took the life of a Waukegan man in Beach Park Monday night, officials said.

A 2002 Saturn was headed west on West Yorkhouse Road near North Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Monday when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with a 2004 Dodge Ram, authorities said.

The Saturn's driver, 51-year-old Gerrit De Koning Jr. of Waukegan, was pronounced dead at Vista East Hospital in Waukegan, authorities said.

The driver of the truck sustained nonlife threatening injuries, authorities said.
