Lombard Park District Teams with Lombard Garden Club to Aid the Monarchs

In April, the Lombard Garden Club Conservation members, Karen Brittain and Lonnie Morris made a proposal to the Lombard Park District to increase and improve Monarch habitat in local parks. Bill Sosnowski, Superintendent of Parks met with Brittain in August and formulated the plan to certify thirteen parks in Lombard as Monarch Waystations.

The garden club volunteered to to help fund signage and certification for this project, using funds from the Conservation budget. The park district will post unique signage at each of the sites stating this project is a cooperation between the Lombard Garden Club and the Lombard Park District. On Tuesday, September 22 at the park district board meeting in Sunset Knoll Building, Brittain presented the board with a $300 check from the garden club. Saving the Monarch plans are now underway.
