Archdiocese adds director of publications and media with suburban roots

The Archdiocese of Chicago has named Grant Gallicho as its director of publications and media, a new position in which he will review the Archdiocese's publications strategy and manage its print and digital properties.

A Chicago native, Gallicho is currently an associate editor of Commonweal, the oldest independent lay-run Catholic journal of opinion in the United States.

"I welcome Grant back home to Chicago and look forward to working with him," Archbishop Blase J. Cupich said in a news release. "He comes to this new position with years of proven publishing experience and digital-era savvy, and combines those skills with a deep faith and love for the Church."

Gallicho joined Commonweal in 2000, where he launched the magazine's award-winning blog and oversaw the redesign of the print magazine and multiple updates of its website. He has written and edited features, investigative articles, reviews, editorials, and interviews.

Gallicho attended grammar school at St. Paul of the Cross School in Park Ridge, and graduated from Notre Dame College Prep in Niles. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and English from Fordham University in 1998, and a Master of Arts degree in Theology from the University of Chicago in 2000.
