Glenbard East looks for first win over Glenbard North since 1999

Glenbard East (3-0) at Glenbard North (1-2)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Last week: Glenbard East 56, East Aurora 12; Glenbard North 28, Wheaton Warrenville South 6.

Last year: Did not play.

Outlook: Former longtime DuPage Valley Conference foes, Glenbard East last beat Glenbard North in 1999. The Panthers have won the last 14 meetings, off last year due to the Rams' move to the Upstate Eight Valley. Glenbard East presents a wealth of weapons. Teaming with quarterback Phil Abruzino, receivers Travis Lyles, Zach Walsh and the electric Karon Keyes have taken turns as top targets. It's a passing attack Glenbard North has yet to face this season, but Devonta Owens and Joey Moore also will be asked to maintain some balance on the ground. Opponents haven't found it easy to throw against Glenbard North, which already has 8 interceptions, including 4 by Greg Newsome, 2 by Justin Pitts. The best way for the Panthers to handle Abruzino and Co. is to keep them on the sidelines with the power ground game. Behind big guys like tackle Juan Jadue and tight end Mikkohl Holt, last week Devion Hodges had his second 100-yard rushing game, and shifty Vittorio Tricase also has one.

Next week: Glenbard East at West Chicago; Naperville North at Glenbard North.
