Fuentes powers Warren's win

Freshman Martin Fuentes scored the only goal, as Warren's boys soccer team blanked Marmion Academy 1-0 Thursday.

Ivan Esquivel earned the assist, while keeper Blair McCormick made 4 saves in notching the shutout for Warren (9-2-1).

The match was called seven minutes into the second half due to lightning.

Libertyville 2, Lockport 0: Luke Sanderson and Liam O'Connell scored first-half goals for the visiting Wildcats in the Pepsi Showdown match.

Kenny Gallagher and Ryan Wittenbrink had assists, while keepers Brant Kym (5 saves) and Thomas Pearson (4 saves) shared the shutout fpr Libertyville (5-1), which earned a berth in Saturday's semifinals.

Antioch 2, North Chicago 0: The Sequoits built a 2-0 lead by halftime, and the North Suburban Prairie match was terminated in the second half due to lightning.

Danny Brito scored his eighth goal of the sesson and earned his 12th assist on Gabe Tijerina's goal. Dave Lonski assisted on Brito's tally.

"Brito's goal came off some nice individual work, taking it inside to his left foot and curling it into the far upper corner," assistant coach Matt Bohmann said.

Keeper Alex Ruano picked up the shutout, as Antioch (6-4, 2-2) won its third game in a row.
