Boys soccer: Elgin, Kaneland each win

In the completion of a suspended boys soccer game from August 29, Elgin improved its record to 8-2-2 overall with a 5-1 nonconference win over Oswego East Wednesday.

Forward Jon Ramirez fired in 2 goals for the Maroons while Omar Gonzalez, Alex Garcia and Caesar Gomez each provided goals. Pedro Hernandez also added 2 assists.

Kaneland 3, DeKalb 1: Angel Escontrias tallied 2 first half goals in the Knights' Northern Illinois Big 12 East win over the Barbs. Trevor Jahns added an insurance goal in the second half for Kaneland (3-4-2, 2-1-1) while Brian Bartholomew, Cameron Pieczynski and Mark Dhom had assists.

North Shore Country Day 4, Elgin Academy 0: The Hilltoppers (2-2-1, 0-2) were unable to come away with an Independent School League win despite 9 saves from junior goalkeeper David Zuzevich.
