Tails wag for last time in Dundee as season ends Tuesday, Sept. 15
Tail Waggin Tuesdays will end its season with a celebration of East Dundee's Celtic and Deutsch heritage that features a doggy parade of breeds from those areas, pipers, a caricaturist, voting for TWT's overall favorite Top Dog and photo opportunities galore - all at the Depot on River Street in East Dundee from 5 p.m. to dusk Sept. 15.
Since June, this monthly event, designed specifically for canines and their owners, has celebrated service dogs; all things French and famous characters named Jack. To add to this month's Scottish-Irish-German theme, The McDonald Family Pipe Band will be on hand to provide a musical backdrop for the raffles, parade and overall merriment.
Highlighting the evening's fun will be the announcement of the August winner of the summer-long "Vote For Your Favorite Pooch" Facebook contest. After that winner is revealed, visitors will be able to vote on site for their overall favorite pooch from the top three winners of June, July and August. As a "parting gift" for those in attendance, a caricaturist will also be there to capture a quick sketch of attending dogs.
Visitors to this popular family-friendly event are encouraged to chat with the many canine focused vendors, take part in the ongoing raffles and enjoy the local hot dog concessions at The Caboose. Dogs are welcome to attend with their owners but are required to be kept on a flat leash. Retractable leashes are prohibited at Tail Waggin' Tuesdays for the safety of all dogs and owners.
"We've had a great time seeing hundreds of owners and their four-legged friends come out and visit with the neighbors this season," said Lael Miller, Village President. "Our special "fountain for humans and pets," "dunk-your-dog" wading pools and special areas to "park your pet" have been a big hit with visitors from all over the Fox Valley. It's been fun."
Tail Waggin' Tuesdays have been part of Discover Dundee 2015 Sizzlin' Summer Events presented by the Village of East Dundee. The program presented an event each week throughout the summer months.
