United Fall Fest in Campton Hills returns for 5th year

Saturday's fifth annual Campton Hills United Fall Fest, conceived to bring folks together after a bitter fight to incorporate, featured many favorites such as a large Kid's Corner of inflatable obstacles and a bags tournament, as well as a new feature, a $6,000 fireworks show.

The festival began at 3 p.m. John Mundt of Elgin said he has been competing in the bags tournament for the past four years, and Stan Parchaiski of St. Charles returned for his third year.

Nearby, little girls hula-hooped and Chase Unterman, 3, of Elburn and his little brother, Camden, 1, munched on freshly made popcorn while they waited for the next live entertainment group to perform.

Later in the evening before the fireworks, a showing of "The Lego Movie" on an inflatable screen was scheduled. Other attractions included a visit from a medevac helicopter, a car show and a bicycle skills clinic.
