Des Plaines mayor to hit the links with three of his critics
Des Plaines Mayor Matt Bogusz will be teeing off with some of the people who are most often teed off with him.
Bogusz was surprised at this week's city council meeting when Alderman Dick Sayad revealed he had won a round of golf and lunch with the mayor through a silent auction at a recent Des Plaines Community Foundation fundraiser.
Sayad, one of Bogusz's political opponents, said he's bringing along two of the mayor's other critics, Alderman Jim Brookman and VFW Post 2992 Commander Mike Lake, for the 9 holes at the Golf Center Des Plaines.
Sayad said he was the only one to bid on the prize, which Bogusz offered to benefit the foundation and Healthy Community Partnership program.
The winning bid: $30.
"We are gonna collect on this," said Sayad, a 12-year alderman who won re-election in April by defeating a candidate that had the mayor's backing.
Bogusz said he plans to follow through with the deal, and is finding a date on his schedule.
