Hoffman Estates Platzkonzert Germanfest offers fun for all

The village of Hoffman Estates is hosting its 10th annual Platzkonzert Germanfest, an open air celebration, complete with authentic German food, Warsteiner beer, entertainment, and activities, on Saturday, Sept. 12.

The festival kicks off at 9 a.m. with a 5K run benefiting the Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates Rotary. Registration is $30 on the day of the race. There will be inflatables for the kids during the race.

The event is at the Virginia Mary Hayter Village Green, 5510 Prairie Stone Parkway off Route 72 in the Prairie Stone Business Park next to the Sears Centre Arena.

Following the 5K, stick around and visit the Oompah tent and amphitheater stages for entertainment from the Internationals, the Johnny Wagner Band, the Mike Schneider Band and the HOTT Production Dancers. The popular local Centerfold Band will take the main stage at 6 p.m.

Participate in the traditional wiener eating, stein carrying, and Mr. Lederhosen contests and bring the kids for face painting, bounce houses and a climbing wall. For a complete list of activities, times and site map, visit www.hoffmanestates.org/platzkonzert.
