Arlington Hts. concert celebrates Frank Sinatra's 100th birthday
The Northwest Suburban Community Concert Association's 68th season begins Sunday, Sept. 20, with glorious music, amazing stories, and ... a birthday party!
Peter Oprisko, the Frank Sinatra interpreter and a friend of the Sinatra family, will lead the celebration of Frank's 100th birthday.
In between songs, you'll hear the little known story of how Frank Sinatra - with a little help from a Chicago "friend" - helped swing the 1960 presidential election for John F. Kennedy.
When Robert Kennedy at that time put the heat on the mafia, Sinatra had to placate his now-angry Chicago friend by bringing the Rat Pack for a week at the grand reopening of the mob-run Villa Venice in Wheeling.
The Northwest Suburban Community Concert Association performances are in partnership with Northwest Suburban High School District 214 Community Education. The concert will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Forest View Educational Center Theater, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights.
Tickets are available at the door, on the Internet at www.nscommunityconcerts.org, or through District 214 at 847-718-7702. They are $20. Children through high school are free with a paying adult.
