White Sox claim Olt off waivers from Cubs
The Chicago White Sox are adding a power-hitting third baseman to their expanded September roster.
It is not Matt Davidson.
The Sox on Saturday claimed Mike Olt off waivers from the Chicago Cubs, and he will be in uniform in the next few days.
Davidson remains at Class AAA Charlotte, and he was leading the International League with 23 home runs heading into Saturday's play. On the flip side, Davidson was batting .205 and leading the IL with 187 strikeouts.
Olt, 27, opened the season with the Cubs and was 2-for-15 with 1 home run and 1 RBI before landing on the disabled list on April 17 with a fracture in his right wrist.
After losing his starting job to Kris Bryant, Olt batted a combined .273 with 9 home runs and 25 RBI in 62 games with Class AA Tennessee and AAA Iowa.
In 111 career games with the Cubs and the Texasx Rangers, Olt is batting .158 with 13 home runs and 39 RBI.
